Final Countdown

It’s gonna be an amazing day at the Ryder cup… it’s one of those must see sporting events that translate so well onto television.  Sky’s coverage has been pretty good (as usual) and the commentary team seem to be so involved that it’s infectious. The US are currently 9-7 up over Europe and here’s the line-up for today’s singles matches (tee off times in BST) and, for what it’s worth, a prediction from me…….

1703 Anthony Kim v Sergio Garcia (great match to start, gotta fancy Sergio tho)
1714 Hunter Mahan v Paul Casey (could go any way, Casey needs to be on top of his putting but Mahan is favourite)
1725 Justin Leonard v Robert Karlsson (Karlsson’s iron play vs Leonard’s putting. Too close to call)
1736 Phil Mickelson v Justin Rose (I reckon Rose will pinch it, Mickelson’s was good yesterday but has been erratic)
1747 Kenny Perry v Henrik Stenson (A point for Perry here but he’ll have to work his socks off)
1758 Boo Weekley v Oliver Wilson (The crowd favourite, Boo, looks in ominous form. Wilson will be on a high after his win over Kim and Mickelson though)
1809 JB Holmes v Soren Hansen (Holmes is a one-trick pony, so I think Hansen can nick this one)
1820 Jim Furyk v Miguel Angel Jimenez (Furyk all the way, he’s been sensational)
1831 Stewart Cink v Graeme McDowell (McDowell has been a revelation here, another European point)
1842 Steve Stricker v Ian Poulter (It could be Poulter’s tournament and I wouldn’t be surprised if he won the crucial point)
1853 Ben Curtis v Lee Westwood (a half in this one, not sure whether Westwood is entirely on his game)
1904 Chad Campbell v Padraig Harrington (Harrington to sneak this one, he’s been the best on world at the big events for the last 12 months)

….and if that all comes true, it’s 5-7 in the singles, 14-14 over all and Europe will retain
