Slip Sliding Away

Olympics

Interactive coverage of the action

The Winter Olympics has always baffled me.   As Dara O’Brian wisely pointed out on a recent Jonathan Ross show, it strikes me as being 48 different kinds of sliding.  When dancing is considered a sport and curling the pinnacle of edge of your seat entertainment you know that something is wrong.  Then you watch the downhill skiing and everyone finishes the course with a second of one another: can’t you just call it a draw?  May be it’s a British thing, there hasn’t been a reason to watch since Torville and Dean and, other than being drawn into watching a few ice hockey matches while propping up various Czech bars recently, I can’t find a reason to watch this time either.
