Champagne Supernova…. well, Asti Spumanti at least

Rob Brydon… least convincing scientist, ever.

Having watched the first two editions of Supernova, I am still lukewarm about its appeal. Rob Brydon comes across as ameniable as ever, though his portrayal of a super-scientist takes some suspension of disbelief. However, the brilliance of Marion & Geoff means I’ll stick with this one for a few more trys. This week’s episode featured a lovely Doctor Who-related plot (so, plus points from me already) in which Jon Pertwee was mistaken for God…. I guess you had to be there. I’m struggling to find any connection/sympathy/empathy with the other 5 or 6 regulars who probably have less than one fully rounded character between them. There is definately a gap in the market for a stand-out, traditional sitcom on the airwaves, I fear this may not be it.
